Hammer Drill w/Bryan Hepler

Here's the 'Hammer Drill' from Bryan Hepler, a MORAD and TGM instructor who also made my first annual top 50 teachers in the world list last year. This comes from Golf Tips Magazine.

What was your reason for having him in your top 50. Have you read that article?? It's one of the work i've ever seen. Isn't it obvious that he has no clue what Stack and Tilt is? Also, doesn't seem to know much about MORAD...I would question his statement that he has spent 300 hours with Mac. And there is absolutely know way he has read the Stack and Tilt book or seen the DVD's!!!

I wasn't really too interested in the article, but in the actual hammer drill.

And just because a teacher makes some incorrect statements and/or assumptions about S&T or any other type of teaching, doesn't mean that they cannot teach.

I put him in the top 50 because I know a couple of people that have worked with him and have seen immediate and great improvement. These people have told me about other students he has that they've seen dramatically improve as well. And there's no doubt that he's worked with Mac O'Grady. He's also got some general sound theory on game.

I know Bryan Hepler and have watched him teach. He is one of the most knowledgeable golf instructors I know. Not only does he teach the game of golf but he is sought after by professional athletes for his unique approach to sport psychology.

I dont know him, but I have to be honest his information on both parties is quite wrong. I don't have anything against what he MAY say. But, when you say they do this(and they really don't) thats an issue.

"you'll automatically move into the correct striking position as you swing" I'm far from convinced, and like others have said, this article is full of innacurate information.

Please clarifying what INACCURATE statements you guys seem to have found. Because in my 20+ years of PGA teaching and knowledge of the game I find this article very good and very accurate.

Inaccurate is being way too nice. The information is completely wrong!!! A few things he said that S & T does are the complete opposite of what actually happens. It's almost like he did that on purpose trying to discredit S & T. If you just read the article and compare it to the book or dvd's you will see its completely obvious. Also, agree dana in that his MORAD stuff isn't really accurate. He might be able to teach but how can someone write an article on S & T when they haven't read the book or seen the DVD's??

As for Bryan Hepler, well I have seen a bit of video of Mac and him hitting balls together. I also have seen a bit of video where back in 07 Mac talks to Bryan about how Mike and Andy did not follow the protocols and inturn the pelvic thrust is off which means I guess ball flight is off. I do know Bryan was asked to create a simple article to show some deviations and I think he was nice to not go into to much detail. You see back in late 06 and spring of 07 the tour players thought they were getting Mac's info through Mike and Andy. I think if you asked them now they would not have taken the information out on tour.
