Some More S&T Footwork Video

Here's a video showing the S&T footwork.

I think this is such a crucial part of the swing and should be addressed early on. In fact, I call the feet the 'command center of my swing.'

The big part of this is when done properly, it helps 'slow down' the hips from rotating too fast and thus forcing you over the top.

Hey Richie,

When you get a chance, how about a post on your views concerning footwork? Seems to be a seldom discussed part of the swing. I've never really paid footwork much mind, but I do know that when I'm striking well, I have perfect balance and weight transfer, and when I'm not--I fire my hips too fast and slide them too much toward the target, just like you say. Thanks, Tom

I am still trying to my way through the S&T and still fight the "coming over the top" move.
Would you comment on what makes the footwork that we see on the video so important. Maybe, a comment on what helps prevent the "over the top" move.
Thanks

I will try to do something in a future post. It's going to be a bit tricky because I don't want to give any teacher's instruction away for free. But, I'll see what I can do.

Perhaps part of the discussion on footwork would be how often footwork is an indicator and how often it's the root cause.

For example, someone whose heel pops off the ground because his right knee overflexes towards the ball on the downswing would probably be in the "indicator" camp - the real problem is the right knee.

I think most of the time the footwork serves as an indicator rather than the root cause, but I would also agree that footwork is under-rated.

(Besides thinking of footwork can help the root cause.)
